the rhythm of creativity is stitched into every classroom, every spool of thread, and every stroke of dye. Among our diverse and dynamic departments, Fabric Making stands as a cornerstone of craftsmanship, innovation, and cultural pride.

Fabric Making: More Than a Skill, It’s a Legacy
Our fabric making course isn’t just about weaving threads—it’s about weaving stories. Students dive deep into traditional and modern fabric creation techniques, from batik and tie-dye to embroidery, weaving, screen printing, and digital textile design. They learn to blend culture with creativity, heritage with haute couture.
“Fabric making gives you the power to create your own canvas,” says Ama Asantewaa, one of our top-performing students. “I no longer just buy fabrics. I create them—with my own signature.”
What Our Students Are Learning
In this hands-on course, students gain practical, industry-relevant skills, including:
- Fabric Dyeing Techniques (Batik, Tie-Dye, Adire)
- Hand and Machine Embroidery
- Local Loom Weaving & Strip Weaving (Kente-style)
- Printing Methods (Block, Screen & Digital)
- Color Mixing & Textile Chemistry
- Creative Pattern Making & Fabric Finishing
- Sustainable Fabric Design using Natural Materials
They are trained not just as artists—but as entrepreneurs, ready to launch their own fabric brands or supply fashion houses across Africa and beyond.

Students in Action: Projects that Tell Stories
Recently, students completed a project themed “Fabricing Our Roots”, where they explored Ghanaian history through fabric art. The results were breathtaking: abstract Ewe kente motifs woven into scarves, batik designs inspired by Adinkra symbols, and plant-based dyes extracted from local herbs.
Career Opportunities After Graduation
Upon completing the course, our graduates are equipped to become:
- Textile Designers
- Fabric Entrepreneurs
- Fashion Brand Suppliers
- Dyeing & Printing Experts
- Embroidery Artists
- Pattern Developers for Couture Houses
Some even collaborate with our fashion design department to create custom-made textiles for runway collections!
